In earlier times the well-appointed fireplace was never considered complete unless it included an iron fireback. Used to reflect light and heat from the fire into the room, and to prevent the hearth’s back from decay, the fireback’s surface also allowed for charming decoration. Since 1979, Pennsylvania Firebacks has revitalized this tradition by offering beautifully cast firebacks for contemporary fireplaces. Their line of Winterthur reproduction firebacks includes elegant, historical firebacks with interesting and well-executed detail.
