Winterthur Girl Scout Programs
Winterthur offers an exciting array of programs just for Girl Scouts! Come earn your "Bugs", "Gardener", "Flowers", or "Playing the Past" badges or just take a tour with your troop.
The cost for each program is $10 per student. Admission for parents who would like to visit the museum while their daughter is participating in a program is $15.

The Ins and Outs of Gardening
October 26, 2013; 9:30am–12:30 pm
Explore the Winterthur Garden, learning about the plants, planning, and care used to create this beautiful and rare public garden. Earn your Gardener badge as you see how plants grow from bulb, seed, and roots. Dig and divide a green and white-striped hosta plant for your home garden.
Bugs in the Museum

Earn your Bugs! badge at Winterthur. Learn about the many roles of insects in a museum. We have objects decorated with bugs, products made from bugs, and things that bugs have destroyed. Hands-on activities and crafts will help you see how amazing bugs are!
Samplers, Sketchbooks, and Secrets

Earn your Playing the Past badge while experiencing the life of a girl who lived in Wilmington, Delaware in the late 1700s. Go behind-the-scenes at this amazing museum to see old clothing, diaries, cookbooks, and drawings that girls in the past created, and try your hand at some of their favorite pastimes.
The Zen of Gardening

Not just a pretty face! With the Winterthur Garden as a laboratory, earn the "Flowers" badge while finding out how flowers function and recording your experience in a garden journal. Make a dried flower sachet and learn how to create a flower arrangement from plants that grow in Delaware.
Girl Scout Day at Winterthur

Show your Girl Scout pride while taking the Yuletide tour at Winterthur! See beautiful Christmas decorations and learn a little about historic holiday traditions. The first 50 girls who register and come take the tour in uninform will receive a free Yuletide at Winterthur patch. Call 800.448.3883 to register.
For all programs, please note: Winterthur is located off Route 52 (Kennett Pike) 6 miles north of Wilmington and 6 miles south of Route 1 in Pennsylvania. Please use the address 5105 Kennett Pike, Wilmington, DE 19807 for GPS devices. Park in the Visitor Lot and then walk down the path to the Visitor Center to meet for the program. Plan to arrive 30 minutes before the listed start time. For Flowers and Gardener activities, please wear clothing and shoes appropriate for adventures in the garden.
