In celebration of Winterthur’s newest exhibition Almost Unknown, The Afric-American Picture Gallery, enjoy chamber music performed by musicians from the Kennett Symphony. They will perform William Grant Still’s Lyric Quartette, “The Sentimental One,” “The Quiet One,” and “The Jovial One.” Still was one of the most important African American composers of the 20th century. Composed in 1960, the quartette describes three of his friends.
The second part of the performance is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s String Quartet No. 14 in G major. Composed in 1782, it is often called “Spring Quartet” because of its warm and sunny nature. $25; $20 for Members. $15 for students.
