Check these out:

  • Wonderful witch hazel:  At the Visitor Center the vernal witch hazel (Hamamelis vernalis) is covered with rusty orange ‘tassel’ flowers while the ‘Wisley Supreme’ Chinese witch hazel (Hamamelis ‘Wisley Supreme’) is starting to display its longer yellow ‘ribbons’.
  • Galanthus getting ready:  Leaves of snowdrops (Galanthus species and cultivars) are emerging throughout the gardens.
    • Giant snowdrops (Galanthus elwesii) are just starting to bloom along the March Walk.
    • A snowdrop hybrid (Galantthus ‘Faringdon Double’) is in full bloom at eye level on the wall adjoining the walkway from the Brown Center to the Cottage and Museum.
    • Snowdrop cultivars are in bud or in bloom in the raised bed at the East Museum entrance.
  • Brilliant berries:  The bright red berries of willow-leaf cotoneaster give a festive look to the fence on Sycamore Hill.
